Our Presiding Bishop
Presiding Bishop
Bishop Robert Covington, Jr.
Bishop Robert Covington, Jr. is the Pastor of Solemn Assembly Tabernacle Holiness Church in Memphis, Tennessee, and the
Presiding Bishop of the Tabernacle Fellowship Ministries.
He is the husband of Berdean Covington, the National First Lady of the Tabernacle Fellowship Ministries. They were united in Holy
matrimony before God and witnesses on December 18, 2021. Being blessed in his previous marriage to the late Joann Hentz-
Covington, he honored their vows for 40 years until her death on October 15, 2017. Bishop Covington is the father of Chaundra
Covington-Rosseau and Asa Covington and the grandfather of three, Andrew Joseph Rosseau, Cody and Brooklyn Covington. He was
born in Tunica, MS and is the oldest son of Earnie Mae Covington and the late Robert Covington, Sr.
Bishop Covington is an alumnus of Carver High School in Memphis, TN and attended the University of Tennessee at Martin. He is a
former instructor of the Lord’s Tabernacle Bible Institute, where he taught the Old Testament Class for over 21 years. He is currently
teaching the TFM Living Word Bible Class, every first Monday of the month.
As a humble servant of God, Bishop Covington’s vision is to teach the “revealed knowledge” of the Word that has been given unto him.
His passion is for, apostles, evangelists, prophets, pastors and teachers to rightly divide the Word of God, accessing proper judgment
to all men according to the scriptures. Bishop Covington often states that “you cannot train yourself to rightly divide; you will either
receive the knowledge directly from God, or through someone God has revealed it unto.”
He has been called to teach others to understand what happened before we arrived on earth.
To understand, the result of Satan’s rebellion.
To understand, the Creative Week.
To understand, in creation, God said, “It was good.” It was good means, no sin.
To understand, Jesus took off His Glory; yet Satan and his demons recognized him.
To understand, God will not leave us defeated.
To understand, power from God does not come from prayer, fasting, or reading the Word, rather it comes from obedience.
To understand, we are learning on earth how to live-in heaven.
In 1985, Robert Covington, Jr. established the Solemn Assembly Holiness Church. Shortly afterwards, he was introduced to Bishop
Philemon Turner, Sr., Presiding Bishop of the Tabernacle Fellowship Ministries. On July 20, 1988, Robert Covington, Jr. was ordained
as an Elder and Pastor by Bishop Philemon Turner. In August 1990, Pastor Robert Covington, Jr., and the Solemn Assembly Holiness
Church united with the Tabernacle Fellowship Ministries under the prelate of Bishop Turner. To show unity within the organization,
‘Tabernacle’ was incorporated into the name of Solemn Assembly Tabernacle Holiness Church.
In 2017, Bishop Robert Covington, Jr. was voted as the new Presiding Bishop of the Tabernacle Fellowship Ministries. Bishop
Covington continues with the theme of the inaugural convention, “We Dare Not Fail God”. He continues the vision and prayer of the
Tabernacle Fellowship Ministries that if the Lord causes us to grow, we boast not in our greatness, but in the greatness of our God. As
our finances increase, we boast not in our wealth, but in the sufficiency of Christ. We continue to pray that if He should cause us to be
known far and wide, we boast not in our fame, but in the Glory of the King of Kings.
Bishop Robert Covington, Jr. is a true pattern of the ideal leader.
“And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.”
Jeremiah 3:15.
